Down South to Margaret River

Took a 3 hour road trip down south to Margaret River. Set off at abt 7am in the morning, it was a cold and sleepy drive down. Lucky for me AK volunteered to do the driving, so the rest of us sleep during the ride there.

Margaret River "town centre" :

Display of their famous local product (aka WINE) in the visitor centre

We stopped by a cafe for breakfast:
BlueBerry pancakes with bacon and syrup

Egg sandwich:

Latte and Hot Chocolate:

There are probably more than a hundred wineries in the vicinity. But with only half a day to spare, we narrowed down to visit only 2 of them:

Leeuwin Estate:
The building is about 3 floors high and oversees a landscape garden:
Big wine cellar:

Bar counter to sample the wines:
End up buying 2 bottles of Shiraz ----- Damage of abt $70 to my pocket.

Next stop: Cape Mentelle Winery

The layout is pretty similar:
Garden on the outside...Wine bar inside...

and a huge wine cellar

Some interesting displays in the shop:

Check out this bottle holder:
It is merely a simple Y-shaped plank of wood
With the wine bottle inserted, it forms a perfect equilibrium. At a glance, it looks as if something else is supporting the plank to keep it upright.
