Eagle View Walk @ John Forest National Park

This is a map of John Forest National Park. The trail in red is the famous Eagle View Walk Trail. Classified under "Easy" at most Aussie bushwalker's website, it stretches 15km and is one of the most scenic trails available.

We started the trail happily, thinking that it was an "easy" 15km walk-in-the-park. No boots, no long pants, no food etc...

The trail started out on a wide and flat path. no problem!
We even had time to take nice pics of structures, rivers, trees etc...

PK sitting at the edge of the rapid. JL wanted to get rid of the competition..
The rest of us just sat around and laughed.

Setting up the camera..For this shot:
Kangaroo spotted!

PK: 这是什么鸟?
My Reply: 这是个小鸟 .
LOL, lame reply. Anyway, I think its a kookaburra

Abt 2km or so into the trail, the pathway started to become narrow.
and narrower....
with UPs and DOWNs...

with more irritating summer flies...

with thorny leaves along the way...

What made thing worse was that AL and SS had to protect their super-expensive cameras whilst bashing thru the bushes.... Argghhh.. as expected... no proper protective camera casing.

After 3km or so, we decided to give up. It was too tiring and too dangerous for unprepared hikers like us.
Sat down and rest before backtracking to the starting pt..
Lucky for us, that resting point provided an excellent (Eagle's) view over Perth city and Perth airport. A great place for plane-spotting.

Back to the map:
The RED trail is the full 15km Eagle View Walk. We U-Turn at the 3km mark.
Total Planned Trail: 15km
Total Completed Trail: 6km (to and fro)
Verdict: Epic FAILURE
