Sailing @ Swan River
You get a picturesque view of Perth city from this part of Swan River
On this nice autumn afternoon (before it gets too cold), JT and I decided to come down to sail the catamarans.
The water was chilly, and the winds were strong (compared to Singapore), abt 15kts. It was a good adrenaline rush trying to control the sail in those conditions..
Too bad I couldn't bring the camera on board to capture some sailing shots. We only took pics on shore.
Back at the rental shop, we found this cute poodle called Ruby. It belongs to the owner.. had fun playing with it... lol..

Honey
Somewhere along Swan Valley lies this small house which sells honey.
No big signboards nor fancy exterior, but the interior is well decorated with cute stuff such as:
Honey sweets, honey syrup, honey ice-cream, honey medicine etc etc...
Glass display of the bees in action:
A bunch of guys posing around a water fountain outside:

A guide to watching AFL
AFL (Australian Football League) football is the national sport in this part of Australia.
This blog entry teaches you how to go about enjoying the game
Step 1:
Choose a local match and get a ticket
This match is between Fremantle (home ground) and Geelong (somewhere near Melbourne) teams.
Step 2:
Find the stadium
This particular match was held at Subiaco Oval (aka Patersons Stadium).
Step 3:
Choose a team to support/bet. (Else, there will be no fun watching.)
My guess is that there will be more supporters for Fremantle, since the match is held in their home ground. I just went with the majority. haha
Step 4:
Dress up to support your team!
Their color is purple, so i tried to wear as much purple as possible.
Step 5:
Take photo and cheer with fellow supporters
This guy(somewhat drunk) painted his face purple!
(dunno why, the purple color turned out blue from my camera)
Step 6:
Grab some FOOTY FOOD to eat.
In Australia, "footy" is the slang for"football". So, footy food is the food you buy from the counter to eat during the match.
Sandwich with chicken breast meat and mayonnaise
Step 7:
Find your seat
and wait for the game to start
Obviously, the cheapest ticket will entitle you the furthest seat. We got the very last row at the back. LOL
The australian football is different from soccer. Rules can be found here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laws_of_Australian_football)
Here are some clips I took during the show
Fremantle team misses a free-kick:
Geelong team scores a goal, but sadly, not many supporters around.
Fremantle team scores a goal and the whole stadium rocked! See the difference between this and the previous video?
I bet 90% of the spectators were their supporters
Despite all the support and cheering, Fremantle team still lost 78 - 89
